Her hands worked…
for a living
for a legacy
for the Lord
Her hands washed…
the laundry
the slate clean
my mouth out with soap… (just the once… well maybe twice)
Her hands pointed…
to hope
to Jesus
to my messy room
Her hands welcome…
change
surrender
you
Her hands offer…
worship
forgiveness
a cup of tea
Her hands give…
a thoughtful gift
a warm embrace
a beautiful haircut
Her hands hold…
strength for today
hope for tomorrow
her grandbabies
Her hands pray…
for grace
for wisdom
for me (and you)
Her hands mend…
scraped knees
torn jeans
broken hearts
Her hands make…
mistakes
amends
apple pie
Her hands have built…
basement walls
benches for the lonely
bridges for the outcast
Her hands tend…
the garden
the sick
the lambs
Her hands held mine…
when I was learning to walk
when I couldn’t get up
when I wailed three babies into the world
Her hands taught me…
how to be formed
how to make art
how to start again
Her hands hurt now
the joints are swollen and sore
but they are still open
holding out her mother heart to show
the spot she saved just for you
I hope one day
my hands
we be as beautiful
as hers.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. I love you.

My Dear Jennifer,
I am humbled by your generous memories of the good, while I long for the “do over’s ” of being a better mother. For the times I fell short.Thankyou for this beautiful gift of your love.
How do I even begin to express what a blessing you are in my life. You have taught me so much thru the years of your pain&suffering.
Your “Joy of the Lord” never wavered, your love & trust in Jesus only grew stronger &deeper thru it all.Showing that God ” makes all things come together for good, for those who put their hope & trust in Him.
You are a beautiful daughter, sister, friend, wife& wise mother who is raising her children “in the way they should go”.To put their trust in a God who will never let them down, that has “started a good work in them& will see it finished.”
Happy Mothers Day,my dear daughter, I am so proud of who you are.
My cup runneth over!
Love mom💞
